Ms. Sapna Ganeshan
President
After her graduate studies Ms. Ganeshan worked as a scientist at Bell Northern Research (BNR) laboratories in Canada and then in the US. She held senior management positions at High Tech Companies such as Nortel Networks and Cisco Systems. While working at Cisco Systems she ran the Mobile Wireless Internet Forum, a worldwide Telecom scientific standards committee, as its Interim VP.
Ms. Ganeshan has demonstrated her entrepreneurial skills and business acumen by co-founding a very successful telecom company. Previously, she ran a very successful Science Enrichment Program for Elementary school children. The program was targeted to increase Science Test Scores significantly. Dallas ISD piloted the program in Fall 2004 and by 2006, this program was implemented in most of the schools within the district. The Program was successful in 7 other ISDs as well. In addition, Ms. Ganeshan has built a series of software programs under the banner of "Smart Neurons" to improve logic reasoning capabilities in children. This includes two of the software CDs in the series that won the "Best Educational CD of the Year" award in 2006.
Dr. Jay Srinivasan
Managing Director
Dr. Srinivasan has over twenty years of experience in the technology and engineering industry. He has held a number of senior management and executive positions in various technology and engineering companies. Dr. Srinivasan has a Bachelors degree, Masters of Science, and Ph.D. all in Engineering. In addition, he also has a MBA in Finance & Marketing. Being a stellar student, merit-based scholarships funded his studies right from the fifth grade all the way until he completed his Ph.D. studies.
Dr. Srinivasan founded Glow Networks, Inc., a very successful telecom professional services company. Glow Networks won numerous awards for being the fastest growing company. The company employed over 400 engineers and technicians in 2010 before CSS Corp., a global Information Technology company, acquired it. Dr. Srinivasan played a key role in facilitating the acquisition of Glow by CSS Corp.
Dr. Srinivasan has taught credit courses for engineering students at both under-graduate and graduate level (India & Canada). While at Glow Networks, he successfully built a training organization that offered telecommunication training and certification across the globe.
Dr. Srinivasan is an avid runner. He has successfully run multiple marathons. He brings the same level of enduring persistence to every project that he has worked on.
Ms. Juanita Hansen
Customer Service Director
Ms. Hansen has been crucial for the success of Red Comet. She has been associated with the company since its founding in 1999 and has worked tirelessly to help the school and student community that uses Red Comet. Nita is responsible for customer service and day-to-day business operations as well. She is also deeply involved in the migration of the learning management platform to the new system and in the upgrading of the website.
Mr. Jim Williams
Mr. Williams has been associated with Red Comet for almost 3 years now. His time in the military, and twenty-three years as a street cop in a major U.S. city, has helped to sharpen his ability to see more clearly the needs in our communities. Mr. Williams is excited to be involved with a company that has developed a viable opportunity for young men and women to receive assistance on their path to graduation. Mr. Williams is responsible for Sales and Marketing and is the chief champion of our programs at the various high schools that currently use Red Comet courses.
Ms. Debby Betcher
Business Operations Prime
Ms. Betcher has been with Red Comet for three years and works closely with Ms. Hansen in handling the day-to-day activities of Red Comet. Debby interacts with schools and parents and ensures the smooth operation of the business.
Mr. Pietro Arnese
Webmaster
Mr. Arnese has been integral in overseeing the web strategy and implementation for Red Comet for close to ten years now. He is responsible for maintaining the website and addressing any technical issues that come up. Pietro is also actively involved in the upgrade of the website and the migration of the learning management platform to the new system.
Ms. Valerie Mellema
Curriculum Development – English & Social Studies
Ms. Mellema is a published author of non-fiction books and magazine articles. She is the founder of a successful online content development company, Words You Want. She has worked with professionals in various aspects of the educational system including study-abroad programs, continuing education programs and beyond. Valerie holds a Bachelors of Science in Agribusiness with a Minor in Animal Science from West Texas A&M University. She has been writing professionally since 2006. Valerie is currently driving the content development for Red Comet's English and Social Studies courses. She is also overseeing the various state requirements to ensure that Red Comet’s curriculum is aligned with state guidelines.
Mr. Michael Resuggan
Curriculum Development – Science and Mathematics
Michael and Melanie Resuggan have many years of teaching experience in biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. Together, they have vast experience in course development which is grade-appropriate, visually-appealing and easy to understand. They have experience working with special needs and gifted and talented students. They have close to 20 years of combined experience in writing educational programs, including course development, content, lessons, tests and assessments. Michael has an Honors degree in Physics while Melanie has a Masters degree in Education.
Mr. Sreemon Das
Animation and Multi-media
Mr. Das is a designer and animator with more than 15 years experience in graphics and animation. During his career, he has completed numerous animation and multi-media projects and was also involved with story-based animation for many TV Channels. Sreemon is also one of the founder members of AFX Animation, which is a premier animation services provider. Sreemon is currently responsible for developing multi-media and animation solutions for Red Comet.
Dr. Johana Belen Guerrero
Spanish Language Prime
Dr. Guerrero has over twelve years of experience in high school education, specifically in the areas of Arts, History, Art History, Geography and Spanish Language. She has a Ph.D. Degree in Art History from Universidad Autónoma of Madrid (Spain) and two years of Ph.D. Research in Florence (Italy) on Renaissance Art and Artistic Women of 16th century in Italy. Johana also founded her own company which specializes in translation services. As part of her work in California, she was exposed to the needs of Spanish-speaking high school students. Johana is responsible for making Red Comet’s website, learning platform and course content accessible to Spanish-speaking students.
Ms. Lacey Jackson-Matsushima
Assessment Strategy & Implementation
Ms. Jackson-Matsushima's specializes is in the area of developing academic materials. Her writing has appeared in "ByU Magazine" and the "Chapman University Panther." While studying and working abroad in South Africa, Lacey had the opportunity to work in local townships. Her experience has allowed her to contribute as a writer for many international non-governmental organizations. Lacey is currently developing assessments for many of Red Comet’s courses.
Mr. Mohamed Sadath
Creative Design
Mr. Sadath has been involved in graphic design for over 10 years now. Mohamed specializes in conventional Graphic / Creative Design and high quality 3D Graphics. He is well versed in 3D Modeling, texturing, Lighting and rendering. Sadath is very familiar with various design software including CorelDraw, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign, Dreamweaver, Autodesk 3DS Max and MentalRay. Currently, Sadath is responsible for defining the branding strategy for Red Comet including the logo, color themes, brochures, website layout, advertising and marketing materials, etc.
Mr. Waqar Rehman
Platform Technology
Mr. Rehman is one of the founders of 4 Ace Technologies which is one of the leading experts in open source platforms. Waqar has several years of programming experience and professional training and has been affiliated with Microsoft technologies and open source technologies. Waqar has expertise in several open source technologies such as Moodle. He has also collaborated with Curtin University, Australia in putting together IT educational programs. Waqar is responsible for driving the customization of the Moodle platform to suit Red Comet’s technical requirements.
Ms. Sadaf Rasheed
Website Migration Strategy
Since 2004, Ms. Rasheed has been developing a wide range of web applications using HMTL/XHTML, PHP, and MySQL including sites for medium to large businesses. Her core competency lies in complete E-commerce solutions. Sadaf is well-versed at open source customization and has experience of end-end management of website development and migration. At Red Comet, Sadaf is responsible for the migration of the existing website to new technologies, including interfacing with our learning management platform.
